Is your 2023/24 wedding ‘on trend’?

Is your 2023/24 wedding ‘on trend’?

Do you follow the trends, set them or swerve them entirely? If you’re currently planning your big day and you like to keep abreast of what’s hot and what’s not, you’re probably au fait with the latest wedding themes, ‘must-haves’ and ‘must-nots’.
So, judging by this list – and remember: this is just for fun – is your upcoming celebration on trend – or are you very much going with the flow for your 2023/24 wedding? Read on for some of the latest crazes, from wedding suits for women to pre-ceremony parties.
Wild, Weekend-long ‘Welcome Parties’.
Weddings are expensive enough, but some brides and grooms-to-be are putting aside even more of their savings for weekend-long ‘welcome parties’ for destination weddings. This involves ‘entertaining guests on Friday and Saturday’, says VOGUE.
Some of you will see this as the perfect way to allow friends and family to ‘settle in’ to their surroundings – especially if you’re getting married abroad. This means everyone will be more than ready to let their hair down by the time the DJ kicks things off on the wedding day itself.
pre-wedding celebrations
Other couples, however, might view such pre-wedding parties as an unnecessary expense, preferring to host a more informal affair, with an intimate get-together following the vows.
If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that any kind of celebration is better than no celebration at all. At Weddings by Lumi, we say ‘you do you’; if you want to throw a huge, weekend-long bash, go for it. But there’s a lot to be said for keeping things simple too.

Eighties Bridal Gowns
What…have we read that right? Yes, really!
According to Hitched, the ‘80s is back in full swing – at least where bridal attire is concerned. But are huge shoulder pads and puffy frocks your idea of sartorial hell, or are you up for making a statement? Either way, this is one 2023/24 wedding trend that will certainly get people talking.
Here comes the bride. Or rather, here comes the bride’s dress.

Wedding Suits for Women
Wedding gowns are dated, you say? Well, if you want to be one step ahead, it looks like suits are in and dresses are out. Well, perhaps not quite out, but those who like to keep one eye on what the glossy magazines are coveting will be all over a well-tailored, ivory suit.
Is this a trend you can see sticking around beyond 23/24, though?

Orange – and Lots of It!
In recent years, a more minimal look (think ivory and white with a hint of green, thanks to plenty of eucalyptus) has been all the rage. For 2023 and beyond, though, GLAMOUR mag says Pinterest predicts orange is going to be huge at weddings.
Orange bridesmaid dresses, orange flowers, orange tableware…the possibilities are endless – but could you see the vibrant colour being a focal point at your own wedding venue?

Grazing Tables Over Sit-down Meals
GLAMOUR mag also points to the fact that grazing tables may well be the route many a bride and groom go down (in lieu of a formal, sit-down meal) for their big day.
The chance to dip into ‘a little bit of this and a little bit of that’ will certainly go down well with those picky eaters amongst your guests and a grazing table presents a much more relaxed option for those who are throwing a more casual post-vows celebration.
